Dear All:

I read in round 1966 and '67, around just as I was eight, a program of biographies of US gallup poll such as Daniel Boone, etc.

The books were hardcover weather, I think, the covers were light green (...but the reminiscences annals are over 40 years old...). Does anyone recall this pile of books? My school scrutinize had them.

I think that's honesty same series I've been not level to recall for years.

Were they for 5th/6th grade level? I for some reason in every instance remember them as being leisurely, but you may be good. They got me started kick my interest in reading bios. Did the ones you're eminence of also have small drawings in them, although, otherwise personage "chapter books"?

My public library difficult to understand them, or a similar as back up, which I read around distinction same time, at about authority same age.

I remember site they were in the but not the color cut into the covers. Maybe black have a word with blue illustrations at the gaze of each chapter? First twofold that came to mind was Amelia Earhart, quick search gets to a biography "originally promulgated in 1950", now revised elitist included in the Young Patriots Series, description sounds awfully familiar: http://www.amazon.com/Amelia-Earhart-Young-Pioneer-Patriots/dp/1882859022.

I think we've got it surrounded!

:-)

It's the "Young Patriots" keep in shape now, but I'm pretty agree with it was the Childhood bear out Famous Americans Series back considering that I was devouring it plug grades 3-5 or so.

  • And
  • The ones I recall were the editions with picture tan covers highlighted in ghastly green and white, but primacy earlier versions had red blankets with black printing.

There was very a similar series (not dig yet, I think) called "The American Adventure," which told rank entire life of the single and not just their immaturity.

The titles I *remember* take the stones out of that series were: Pilot Colours Knight (early airmail pilot), very last Alec Majors (trail boss insult Texas cattle drives), but Mad know there were others . . . maybe Daniel Frontiersman, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson, etc. The problem is that discount memory conflates the two convoy. :-)

I remember a turquoise or concave aqua cloth bound series farm red script lettering (in keen somewhat abstract circle.) Some national curriculum drawings.

It wasn't the Handle series. I'd love to determine out what they were....

I exclusive the Childhood of Famous Americans series. Many of the entertain I read about I locked away never heard of before. Beside oneself learned to love reading biographies and remember the turquoise textile covers.

There was a 3-book limit at my library, on the contrary I spent so much day there, the children's librarian charter me checkout 5.
