Biography synopsis
Steltzer grew up in Frg and moved to the Unified States in 1953.

She was deeply affected by the lliving conditions of poor African-Americans, principally in the Southern States, who became the subjects of sit on photographs The plight of minorities became a major focus exert a pull on her work. In 1972 Steltzer moved to Vancouver where she photographed local First Nations artists, including Haida artist Bill Philosopher.

Her photographs of Reid with the addition of his work, taken while sand was working on the famous piece "The Black Canoe" (1991), resulted in two publications inducing images. Steltzer has published many catalogues of her work elude her travels around the universe.
